Knighs & Horses
A great value, this set comes with four knights and their four steeds 1. Templar Knight (red cross) with white beard & white horse 2. Knight of the Kingdom of Jerusalem (red cross with four smaller red crosses around it) with brown beard and white horse 3. Hospitaller Knight (white cross on black ground) with black beard and brown horse 4. Teutonic Knight (black cross on white ground) with brown beard and brown horse Each figure comes with helmet, flag, flagpole, sword, cape, extra hand, 3x4 base with 1 row of studs. Each horse comes a 4x6 base, a tabard skirt for its rider, and barding in 4 parts: shaffron (headpiece), crinet (neckpiece), peytral (chestpiece), and caparison (fabric over the rump, including the built-in saddle). The barding pieces hold together mostly by grip, but if you put the peytral on last it will lock things in place a bit; note that the horse needs to be in the "basic" pose, all four hooves down, and head up, for the barding to fit. Speaking of fit, the capes are very snug around the neck posts (probably because there are two layers of paint, silver and tan, over the plastic). An easy fix is to put the cape on upside down, which allows you to rotate it back and forth, wearing off some of the excess paint until it loosens up. Then you can put it back on the right way and top it with the minifigure's head. With al the different layers and pieces involved, it can be a bit unwieldy once the knight is in the saddle, but there's no denying they make for an impressive sight!
