Tactical Gunship - Star Wars Military Gunship Concept Building Set with 12 Clone Troopers

The concept… great. The look… better. The build… so-so. First off, the fact that it came with 12 minifigures AND they came with helmet/hat options and all those weapons was great. I thought the $129.99 was pricey, but the minifigs make that a reasonable price. With the average price at $3.99, that’s already a big chunk of the price ($47.88 if you want to do the math so that would make the set itself $82.11 - super great deal). I really liked how they used that clip in cockpit build and how they brought those two little storage compartments back from other builds. The blaster turrets and the American flag on either side were a great twist on the build. What was missing and I thought should’ve been in there was that little storage hatch above the rear blaster. I understand it would’ve made it wider and added more pieces but that was a great attribute from other gunships. The front hatch is too small to fit a minifigure and the doors don’t allow you to really get anything in there. I was trying to fit a weapons crate in there but it was a real pain getting it in there. The sliding door only had one hinge to hang off so opening/closing the door was super awkward. I get minimizing pieces to put out a less expensive set but I feel that’s so standard that it takes away from the build especially because there’s only a stud holding it together which will wear out very quickly if that’s being used as a holding place for something much larger than it can handle. The connection for the wings isn’t a long technic piece, but four technic pieces that should not be holding all that weight. The wing itself isn’t completely connected. There’s a portion that moves around on the front of the wing and in the middle where it definitely should be connected to hold itself together structurally. Aside from those gripes, it is an overall a good buy considering the minifigs it comes with and for it using 3rd party bricks. Would recommend to only buy for display. A kid playing with this will destroy it structurally. 7.5/10

I was very pleasantly surprised with how good this custom set is. The bricks fit ever so tighter than normal Lego, but with a brick separator they come apart just as easy. The build is about the same size as the most recent Lego gunship. Figures are well made with tons of different accessories for the troopers. Looking forward to more custom sets!

Managed to grab one of these before they went out of stock. The figure collection is the best part. The camo just looks so good in person, and there are plenty of accessories. The gunship quality is on par, if not better than Lego bricks with how everything fit together. And this thing is sturdy. I enjoyed seeing extra care in the instructions put into reinforcing the build from the inside out. I am much happier having bought this over the Lego Coruscant LAAT. I give it a 10 / 10 for the minifigures and a 9 / 10 for the LAAT. I have 2 minor gripes with the Tactical LAAT that lowered the score. 1st, I thought that the doors would close all the way, no that is not the case, it is as closed as it will go in the pictures and it leaves a giant chunk of open space in the middle. 2nd, the front two side panel doors suck and don't open wide enough to fit anything but crates or loose small items. But that is the same for the official Coruscant LAAT, so this is more of a nitpick.
